Swap

Grab every circle. Dodge every square. A free one-tap game.

Play nowTap to switch lanes

Swap is a one-tap reflex game with two lanes and one rule: take every circle, avoid every square. Your runner charges up the track, and each tap slides it to the other lane. Circles and spiky red squares come down both lanes. Miss a circle and the run ends; touch a square and the run ends. It starts gently, then the track speeds up and the patterns start flipping lanes faster than you can think.

How to play Swap

  1. Tap anywhere to slide your runner to the other lane. Tap again to slide back.
  2. Run through every circle. Each one is a point, and letting one go by ends the run.
  3. Avoid the red spiky squares. Touching one ends the run.
  4. Every 10 circles in a row earns a streak bonus of 5 points and a coin.

Tips to get a high score

How Swap speeds up

Swap runs on a clock, not on your score. The track more than doubles its speed over the first 70 seconds of a run, then holds at that pace. Gaps between objects shrink in step: early on a lane change gives you most of a second to react, while near top speed it can be closer to a quarter of a second.

The patterns change too. At the start the lane you need flips a bit less than half the time; later it flips about six times in ten. After the first few objects you'll also meet bursts, two or three lane changes back to back with tight spacing, and late in a run those bursts can stretch to five and come around far more often.

The mix of shapes shifts as well. Lone circles make up just over half of everything at first, and later more of the track is lone squares and circle-and-square pairs.

Points, streaks and close calls

Every circle is one point. Every tenth circle adds a 5-point streak bonus and a coin. Since missing a circle ends the run, that count never resets, so ten circles are always worth 15 points and your score climbs by about one and a half per circle.

A CLOSE! point comes from leaving a square's lane shortly before it reaches you, within about a third of a second. It's tempting to chase these, but the square only needs a small overlap to end your run, and the slide takes a moment, so wait too long and the point turns into a crash. Take close calls when the rhythm hands them to you rather than holding back on purpose.

Reading the track as lanes, not shapes

Every row on the track is one of three things: a lone circle, which means be in its lane; a lone square, which means be in the other lane; or a circle with a square beside it, which means the same as both. Turn each row into one answer, "left" or "right", and you only tap when the next answer differs from where you are.

The opening is always the same. First a circle in the other lane, so tap. Then a square in that lane, so tap back. The next two rows stay put, so don't tap.

Your reach for a circle is a bit wider than a square's danger zone, so you can collect a circle while you're still sliding into its lane. That means tapping slightly early for a circle is safe. A stray second tap is the usual way runs end, since it sends you straight back where you came from.

FAQ

Do I have to collect every circle?

Yes. In Swap a missed circle ends the run, just like hitting a square. That's what makes it tense: you can't just hide in one lane.

Does holding do anything?

No. Only taps matter. Each tap switches lanes once, so it plays the same on a phone, a tablet or a laptop trackpad.

Why are some taps ignored at the very start?

The tap that starts the run doesn't count as a swap, so you never lose a run to the opening touch.

Is it free?

Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.

How do challenges work?

After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
