Slice is a one-thumb chopping game. Cucumbers, carrots, bread, sausages and cheese ride a conveyor belt under your cleaver. Hold anywhere and the blade chops again and again; every slice scores. But someone keeps holding the food by its end, bombs ride along between the snacks, and the odd fork is stuck right through the middle. Let go before any of them passes under the blade. Chop too little, though, and the food goes by wasted. Three wasted snacks and the kitchen closes.
How to play Slice
- Hold anywhere to chop. A press chops at once, and holding keeps the blade chopping.
- Each slice of food scores a point.
- Let go before a hand, a bomb or a fork reaches the blade. Chopping one ends the run.
- Cut every snack properly. Food that slides past barely cut is a strike, and three strikes end the run.
Tips to get a high score
- Hazards glow red as they near the blade. That's your cue to lift.
- Short taps give single, precise chops right up to a hand or a fork.
- Chopping right up to a hazard without touching it scores a CLOSE call.
- Slice a whole snack from end to end for a CLEAN. It adds no points, but three CLEANs in a row pay a coin.
- The belt speeds up as you go, so lift a touch earlier later in the run.
How the kitchen speeds up
The belt runs about twice as fast after roughly 70 seconds, and keeps creeping up after that. While you hold, the blade chops a little faster too, from about 7.5 chops a second to 10.
Hazards ramp up with time. Hands start on the third snack and hold about a third of snacks at first, rising to about two in three. Bombs appear from the fifth snack, sitting in the gap between foods, and forks from the eighth, stuck through the middle of longer snacks. Both get more common, and the gaps between snacks shrink.
What scores and what counts as waste
Every chop that lands on food is one point. CLEAN, and the coin for three CLEANs in a row, only show how well you cut each snack; they don't add points. Coins go towards hats.
Each snack is judged once its back end passes the blade. The game works out how many slices would fit at the current belt speed and chop rate, leaving out the part under a hand. Cut fewer than 40% of those and it's a strike; 85% or more is a CLEAN. Strikes never go away, so the third one ends the run however well you've done since.
A fork costs you the slices around it, but you only need 40% to avoid a strike. Chop the front of a forked snack, lift for the fork, then press again for the rest. A fresh press chops straight away, as long as the last chop was at least a fifteenth of a second ago.
Cutting close to hands, forks and bombs
A chop only ends the run if a hazard is under the blade's narrow edge at that exact moment. If it's a few pixels short, you get a CLOSE instead. When you're holding, chops come on their own beat, so the danger is a chop that happens to land just as the hazard arrives. Lift one chop earlier than feels necessary.
Hands always grip the back end of a snack, with an extra stretch of empty belt after them. Lift for the hand and you'll have time to press again before the next snack arrives.
Chopping empty belt costs nothing, so holding through a plain gap is fine. Bombs are the exception: they sit alone in gaps, so lift through any gap with a bomb in it, then press again once it's past.

FAQ
What counts as a wasted snack?
If a snack leaves the blade with fewer than about four in ten of the slices it could have had, it's a strike. You get three strikes per run.
Can I cut the food under the fingers?
No. The part of a snack under someone's hand is off limits. Stop chopping before the fingers reach the blade.
Is it free?
Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.
How do challenges work?
After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
