Blast

Weave through the squadrons. A free one-tap game.

Play nowHold = right · Let go = left

Blast is a one-button vertical shooter. Your blob pilots a little paper rocket that fires straight up all by itself. You only steer: hold to drift right, let go to drift left, with a bit of momentum so you glide into place. Squadrons swoop down on sine waves, dive-bombers hover and then come straight at you, zig-zag saucers sweep across, and armored tanks soak up shots while spraying aimed bullets. Weave between the red bullets, line up under enemies to shoot them down, and catch the capsules: P upgrades your gun to a double and then a spread shot, and S gives you a shield that absorbs one hit.

How to play Blast

  1. Tap once to launch. From then on the rocket fires automatically.
  2. Hold anywhere to drift right. Let go to drift left.
  3. Every enemy ship you shoot down is a point. Tanks take several hits.
  4. Red bullets and enemy ships end the run, unless you have a shield.

Tips to get a high score

How the sky fills up

At the start, a new squadron arrives about every three seconds. Over the first 70 seconds that gap shrinks to just over a second, and each squadron grows by a ship or two. The first two squadrons are always swoopers. Nothing shoots at you until the third squadron, so use that time to get a feel for the drift.

The mix changes as you go. Swoopers become a little rarer and dive-bombers more common. Late in a run a tank also brings a squadron of swoopers right behind it. Enemies fire more often, their bullets get faster, and far more of their shots are aimed at you instead of falling straight down.

Tanks get tougher too. Early ones take five hits and fire single aimed shots. Later ones take up to eight hits, and about 25 seconds in they start firing three bullets at once.

Points, capsules and keeping your gun

Every ship you shoot down is one point. A tank is worth one point too, even though it takes many hits. Ships that crash into you with a shield up are destroyed but don't score, so shooting them is always better than ramming them.

Every fourth squadron has one ship carrying a P or S capsule, and every tank carries one too. While your gun isn't fully upgraded, most capsules are P. Your gun upgrades stay for the whole run, so make the first few P capsules a priority. Once you have the spread shot, extra P capsules just turn into coins.

The shield takes one hit and then gives you just over a second of safety. You can't stack a second one, so an S capsule matters most right after your shield has popped. Coins from ships are only for hats. Don't take risks for them.

Reading enemy fire

Aimed shots go where you'll be a moment later if you keep drifting the same way. Reversing your direction just after a ship fires is the most reliable dodge. A steady drift in one direction is what gets you hit.

Enemies only fire while they're in the upper part of the screen. Once a swooper or tank gets close to your level it stops shooting, and the danger becomes the ship itself. Dive-bombers hover and blink, then dive at the spot where you were when they launched, so slide off it right away.

Zig-zag saucers bounce between the walls and move down slowly, while swoopers sway on a curve. Instead of chasing either one, park in their path with short holds and let the auto-fire do the work.

FAQ

Do I have to press to shoot?

No. After the first tap the rocket fires on its own. The button only steers: hold for right, let go for left.

What does the shield do?

It absorbs one hit from a bullet or a ship, then pops. You get a moment of invulnerability afterwards.

Is it free?

Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.

How do challenges work?

After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
