Scope

Hold your breath. Squeeze. A free one-tap game.

Play nowHold to steady · Let go to fire

Scope is a one-button sniper game on a cardboard shooting range. Your scope drifts onto the bandit most likely to get away and sways with your breathing. Hold to steady it: the sway shrinks to a gentle wobble, but your breath meter drains. Let go to fire. A hit on the body is worth 1, a headshot is worth 2 and drops a coin. Missing, or letting a target walk off or duck away, costs one of your three hearts. Wind shoves the scope sideways, targets get smaller and faster, and pop-ups and walkers start to crowd the range. There's a new range every day, with friends' ghost crosshairs alongside yours.

How to play Scope

  1. Watch the scope glide onto a target. It always chases the one closest to escaping.
  2. Hold anywhere to steady your aim. The crosshair turns gold and the sway shrinks.
  3. Let go to fire. The shot lands exactly where the crosshair is.
  4. Run out of breath and the sway goes wild, so fire before the ring around the lens empties.

Tips to get a high score

Breath, sway and the reload

A full breath lasts 2 seconds of holding. Letting go refills it, but more slowly: about 3.3 seconds from empty to full. Run it dry and you gasp. The sway grows to more than one and a half times its normal size and stays that way until you've rested for about a second, even if you hold again.

Short holds are cheap. Half a second of steadying uses a quarter of your breath, and that comes back in under a second. Holding for a couple of seconds straight is what gets you in trouble.

After each shot the rifle reloads for half a second. Letting go during the reload doesn't fire at all, so you'd have to press and release again. That's an easy way to lose a target you thought you'd already shot.

What the range throws at you

The range ramps up over about 70 seconds. At first only one target is up at a time and a new one comes every 4 seconds or so. Later up to three can be up at once, new ones arrive every second or two, and after about 100 seconds a fourth can join them.

Pop-ups stand for 7 seconds early on and only 3.5 seconds later. Walkers cross up to three times faster. More targets appear in the far row, where they're smallest, though far walkers move a little slower to make up for it.

Wind starts after about 15 seconds and grows stronger over the next half-minute. It shifts every 6 to 12 seconds and can push the crosshair most of the width of a far-row target. After about 25 seconds, birds start crossing the sky. The scope never chases them, so you can only hit one when the sway carries the crosshair across it.

Points, hearts and when to go for the head

Body hits score 1 and headshots score 2 plus a coin for hats. A bird is 1 point and a coin. If two targets overlap, the bullet hits the one in the nearer row, even if you lined up on the head of the one behind.

Every 12th hit restores a heart if you're missing one. If your hearts are already full, that one is wasted. Hit streaks only raise the pitch of the sound.

The scope always goes after the target closest to escaping, and it only switches when another becomes much more urgent. When it switches, that's the one about to cost you a heart, so take the body shot. Save headshots for quiet moments when the target has plenty of time left. Don't fire at a bird unless it's right in the crosshair, because a miss costs a heart like any other.

FAQ

How do I aim with one button?

You don't steer: the scope finds the most urgent target by itself. Your job is breath and timing. Hold to calm the sway, and let go at the right moment.

What are the birds for?

Birds fly across the sky now and then. They're worth a point and never cost a heart if they get away.

Is it free?

Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.

How do challenges work?

After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
