Zig is a one-tap zigzag game. Your blob rolls up a narrow path that winds left and right over nothing, and it only ever goes diagonally: up-left or up-right. Tap anywhere to switch. Turn right at the corner and you keep rolling; turn too early or too late and you tumble off the edge. Every gem on the path is a point. The ball speeds up, the path gets thinner and the corners come quicker, and there's a new path every day to race your friends' ghosts on.
How to play Zig
- Your ball rolls on its own. Tap anywhere to switch between up-left and up-right.
- Turn when the ball reaches each corner of the path.
- Pick up the gems along the way. Each one is a point.
- If the ball rolls off the edge, the run is over.
Tips to get a high score
- Turn when the ball is right over the middle of the corner. Dead-centre turns count as PERFECT, and perfects in a row climb in pitch.
- Watch the path a couple of corners ahead, not just the ball. Short hops need two quick taps.
- The dashed centre line shows where the path goes. Keep the ball on it.
- Every 8 perfect corners in a row drops a gold coin, and some long stretches have a coin on them too.
Speed, width and short hops
Two things ramp in Zig. The ball speeds up over roughly the first 65 seconds to about 60% faster than at the start, then keeps creeping up. The path narrows with distance rather than time: it shrinks to about 60% of its starting width over the first 50 seconds or so of rolling, then keeps thinning to under a third of its starting width about two minutes in.
Corners come closer together as well. Short hops, where a segment is barely longer than the path is wide, start at about one corner in eight and grow to about two in five. The long straights get a little shorter too.
Your turning window is the width of the path. At the start that gives you about a quarter of a second at each corner. Once the path is narrow and the ball is fast, it's closer to a tenth.
Gems, perfects and what to aim for
Every segment after the first has one gem in its middle, and each gem is a point. Since you roll through the middle of every segment you reach, your score is really how many corners you survive. There's no way to earn extra points.
A PERFECT means turning within a few pixels of the corner's centre, a window of only a couple of frames. Perfect streaks and the gold coins (one for every eight perfects in a row, plus the odd coin on a long straight) count towards hats, not score. A turn that isn't perfect resets the streak and costs nothing else.
For a long run, aim for the centre of each corner but accept any turn inside it. Chasing perfects tempts you into late turns, and late turns are what end runs once the path thins.
Reading the path
You fall the moment the centre of the ball leaves the path. A turn that's late by half the path's width already drops you, even if the ball looks like it's still partly on the road.
On short hops, the next corner arrives almost as soon as you've turned. Treat two close corners as one rhythm, tap-tap, timed to the ball crossing each corner, rather than reacting to each one separately.
The path always stays on screen, so straights get cut short near the edges. When the ball is running towards a side of the screen, expect a corner soon and get ready to tap.

FAQ
Why did I fall when I tapped?
A tap always switches direction straight away. Tap on a straight and you roll right off the side, so only tap at the corners.
Does it get harder?
Yes. The ball keeps speeding up and the path keeps narrowing, so the window for each turn shrinks until even the best runs end.
Is it free?
Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.
How do challenges work?
After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
