Drift is a one-tap driving game. Your car drives itself up a zig-zag road; hold to swing the nose left and release to swing it back right. Stay on the road as it speeds up and gets twistier.

How to play Drift

  1. Your car drives forward on its own.
  2. Hold to steer up-left; let go to steer up-right.
  3. Stay on the road — every meter counts.
  4. Pick up coins on the road to spend on hats for your blob.

Tips to get a high score

Reading the zig-zag

The road in Drift is a chain of straight stretches, each slanting either up-left or up-right, and they always alternate. Holding points your nose up-left. Letting go points it up-right. Every corner is just a switch, from holding to letting go or back again.

Your car doesn't go exactly where the nose points. Its path catches up with the nose over a short moment, which is the slide you feel in every corner. Start each switch before you reach the corner, and start it earlier the faster you're going.

How Drift gets harder

Over roughly the first 70 seconds, three things change at once. Top speed rises by about 80%, the road gets almost a third narrower, and the straights get much shorter, so corners come closer together. The first few stretches are extra long and extra wide to give you a gentle start.

There's a quieter change too. As the run goes on the car grips less, so it slides further before it settles onto its new line. A switch that was on time early in the run will be late a minute in. Move your timing earlier as the road tightens.

The road never runs far off to one side. If a stretch would carry it too far toward the edge of the screen, that stretch is cut short so the road turns back. Expect a quick double corner when the road is near the edge.

Clean corners and scoring

Your score is the distance you've driven, and nothing else adds to it. Coins on the road go toward cosmetic hats. Pop-ups like DRIFT!, CLOSE! and CLEAN are there to show how you're doing.

Those pop-ups still tell you something. A corner counts as clean when you come through it close to the middle of the road. CLEAN x2, x3 and up means you're switching at the right moment. CLOSE! means you came within a few pixels of the edge on that stretch, which usually means you switched a little late.

Aim to keep the car centred, not on the inside line. The centre gives you room either way if your timing is off. A long chain of clean corners is the best sign your run will last.

FAQ

Why do I slide after I let go?

Drifting has momentum, just like a real car: the car keeps sliding a little before it settles onto its new line. Plan your release early.

Is it free?

Yes. Every Tapamine game is free to play in your browser with no download and no account.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Tapamine is built for phones first: portrait, one thumb, and it works offline after your first visit. It also works with a mouse or the spacebar on a computer.

How do challenges work?

After a run, tap “Challenge a friend” to send a link. Your friend plays the exact same level and races your ghost — a replay of your run — to see who wins.
